Biography
Professor Sivakumar Manickam (Siva) is a Chemical Engineer who specializes on the Process Engineering of Nanomaterials especially Nanopharmaceuticals. His research group concentrates on the process development of cavitation based reactors (ultrasound and large scale hydrodynamic cavitation) towards technologically important nanomaterials and to treat the wastewater. His research team has developed a number of nanoformulations incorporated with active ingredients using the cavitation technology. Recent research also involves using nanocarbon materials such as CNT, Graphene and Fullerene for drug delivery and in the development of biosensor for early detection of cancer. He is heading the Manufacturing and Industrial Processes Research Division and is the Coordinator of the Centre for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (CENTAM). He is in the editorial board of various journals. He has published ~200 peer reviewed journal and conference papers. He is the recipient of several prizes, awards and fellowships including JSPS fellowship, Japan. He is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA, UK) and a member of Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN). He organizes workshops and conferences and recently he chaired the 2nd Asia-Oceania Sonochemical conference at Kuala Lumpur.
